5 Fool-Proof Methods to Drive Traffic to Your Website

Do you need an increase in web traffic? Or perhaps you don't have much traffic at all. Of course there are many new systemic ways to drive traffic, such as SEO, image optimization, and the like; but we can't forget about the older, fool-proof methods. Let's take a look at five strategies to help bring visitors to your website.

Social Media Engagement

Social Media. It's a (mostly) free tool for anyone to use to help boost your business. I say mostly, because it is free, but if you want to pay for ads and other additions, you can. Use of social platforms like LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and even TikTok, can increase your audience. Brands are most successful in their social media use if they blend in with the other native content on the platform. The purpose of using social media is to subtly promote brand awareness, and create relatable posts. A great example of this is Dunkin's Instagram page.

Dunkin' on Instagram

Dunkin' shared this 'meme' on their Instagram page. This photo doesn't blast Instagram users with an advertisement about their coffee, it simply reminds people about their brand. This 'relatable' post makes the audience laugh and perhaps make them want to go to Dunkin'. This is a perfect example of Context > Content. I have more information about this on another blog, Content is King, but Context is God. Social media is a FREE tool that anyone can use to help promote their business and create more traffic (pun intended).

Email Marketing

Emails! You can also boost traffic to your website by implementing email marketing. This is by direct email outreach to your audience. According to Compose.ly, email marketing still offers the highest return on investment, with industries averaging $42 in return for every $1 spent. There are several benefits to using this method: You don't have to worry about social media algorithms, you can tailor your emails to each 'buyer's journey', and you can control when your email subscribers receive your content. Here's an example from my email inbox:

Ancestry Email Marketing

This email was received to my inbox on June 13, 2021 at 11:07am. Father's Day is June 20, 2021. Ancestry's marketing department emailed their subscribers one week before a Holiday to remind customers about their brand and to offer a 'deal'. I don't know how many subscribers acted on this offer, but I'm sure they made some money on this email.

Influencers

Using "influencers" to promote brands are a very popular way to market products these days, especially on Instagram and TikTok. A lot of cosmetic companies, like in this TikTok example, send samples to influencers in exchange for promotion.

TikTok Influencer

This promotion is viewed by all of the influencer's followers, who view the influencer as a trusted resource. This method of marketing is about brand reputation. Using influencers will increase website traffic and can be a good way to reach more of your target audience.

Ads

Don't forget or overlook the power of paid advertising. This will get your content in front of a larger audience and attract more visitors. There's a lot that goes into this one, like specific strategies of key wording to attract a targeted audience; more on that later. You can put ads anywhere! Digitally, a few good places to put them could be Google, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, etc. Google Ads are the best answer for a broad range of ad tools, targeting, and analytics abilities.

With Google Ads, you can pay to be at the top of a Google search query. In this example, when searching the term "office supplies", the top selections are all paid ads. This ensures that the user will see your website before competitors. This is a great way to get your website in front of a large audience.

Engage

Engage with online communities. If a post is shared in one place, gets commented on, and re-read by others, you are reaching a larger audience. This not only can drive traffic to your site, but it can also help establish your business.

Quora

There are many ways you can participate in online communities; Quora is a good website for driving traffic. Quora is, "A place to share knowledge and better understand the world." It is the site for answering potential customers' questions. Quora often ranks well in Google, giving you more visibility. If you can find the right forum and be genuinely helpful in your contributions, you can constantly drive traffic to your website.

Are You Ready?

Now that you have some of these methods in your toolbox, you should be able to strategize and implement these tactics. One method isn't going to work alone, you should be trying a few different ideas and see what works. Some tactics will take longer to come to fruition, but it'll be worth it. It shouldn't be long until you see a spike in web traffic!
